A FUN ADVENTURE GOING TO MANGROVE

Date: March 16, 2015 Author: Categories: News

On March 6th, K2 students of TKK 10 Pantai Indah Kapuk did fieldtrip to the Mangrove Park (Taman Wisata Hutan Bakau) located in Pantai Indah Kapuk area, Jakarta Utara. Luckily, as our school is located very near to the Mangrove Park, it only took around twenty minutes to be there. Related to the theme of the week “Mangrove Plants” the children learned that roots of mangroves are special as they do not only prevent the coastline erosion caused by waves and ocean currents, also protecting and stabilizing low lying coastal lands against strong wave action winds and floods as well.
Besides learning about Mangrove plants, the children took adventure to climb and walk across the flying wooden bridge there. They looked worried at the first time, however after trying once, the children were eager to passing the bridge again and again.-Ms.Martha-
